Portmeirion, Wales

January 13, 2001

Completely touristy, but interesting enough to mention, Portmeirion is an artificial town created to “demonstrate how a naturally beautiful place could be developed without defining it.” In use are some statues that stood in the path of development destruction in Europe, but most importantly, the landscape.

If it didn’t have the natural element, it certainly would go down as tacky in my book, but the ample trees, natural beaches and forested areas make it worthy of a walk through.

I can’t really say much else about this place. I know I have yet to tap the true beauty of Wales, which I save for warmer weather.
