This place is definitely the most likable Dutch town I've come across this jaunt so far. Past the second canal are streets lined with 16th and 17th century buildings and off their side streets architectural treasures crumble into the street. I can easily see this place becoming very trendy someday just as I can easily see it fall apart into backstreets of rubble.
The town ends with the wide river and some residue ships from Rotterdam, but there's definitely a European waterfront town feeling to it making it a distinct flavor on the palette of other towns.
